He specializes in both non-surgical and surgical treatment of conditions affecting the hand, wrist, and elbow. His particular areas of interest are arthritis, fractures, and tendon and nerve surgery of the hand and elbow. Dr. Abeyewardene also excels in treating athletes of all ages and abilities, treating sports injuries from fingertip to shoulder.

Dr. Abeyewardene completed his Bachelor of Science in zoology-biomedicine at the University of Oklahoma in Norman. He then received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma, College of Medicine in Oklahoma City.
